The DITC CRS XML Generator is retired. What now?

With the move to CRS XML Schema v3.0, the DITC no longer provides a CRS XML generator tool (DITC Industry Advisory, 17 June 2026). Your 2026-period CRS return, due by 30 June 2027, must be a v3.0 XML file, so it now has to come from your own system, a filing service, or a third-party generator. AEOIkit is one such generator: an independent, browser-based tool from a Cayman company. It keeps the retired tool’s tab layout and identifier conventions, so the switch is a short one.

What the DITC announced

  • No CRS generator for v3.0. “With the transition to CRS XML Schema v3.0 the DITC will no longer be providing an XML generator tool.” The FATCA XML generator tool remains available. (DITC advisory, 17 June 2026; DITC Updates Bulletin)
  • Portal closed to CRS XML. The DITC announced that the portal would close for CRS XML and Filing Declaration submissions in early August 2026, with all other portal functions staying open. (DITC advisory)
  • Reopening anticipated early 2027. No new CRS XML files or amendments can be submitted until the function is reinstated, which the DITC anticipates in early 2027. (DITC advisory; KPMG, 24 June 2026)
  • v3.0 for everything after reopening. New reportable accounts, corrections and deletions, including corrections to earlier years, must be submitted in XML Schema v3.0. (DITC advisory)
  • Deadline 30 June 2027 for the 2026 reporting year (DITC advisory; Maples, 23 June 2026). That is a month earlier than the 31 July deadline for the 2025 year (DITC Updates Bulletin).

Your three options

1. Build the XML yourself. The OECD schema is public. This suits firms that already have developers and an XML pipeline. See generator vs building the XML by hand.

2. Hand the filing to a service provider. Many administrators and corporate-services firms file CRS returns for their clients. You pay for their time as well as the file.

3. Use a generator tool. You keep the work in-house, as you did with the DITC tool, and the tool produces and checks the v3.0 file. This is what AEOIkit does.

What to check in any replacement

  • It writes the OECD Amended CRS Schema v3.0 (sometimes called “CRS 3.0”; namespace urn:oecd:ties:crs:v3), not v2.0.
  • Its output validates against the official OECD CrsXML_v3.0.xsd, and it also checks the business rules the schema cannot express.
  • It produces corrections and deletions in v3.0 that reference the records you filed before.
  • It follows the DITC identifier conventions for MessageRefId and DocRefId.
  • You know where your account-holder data goes. AEOIkit runs in your browser, and the data never leaves your machine.

How AEOIkit fits

AEOIkit is a single file that opens in any modern browser: no installer, no admin rights and no macros, on Windows or Mac. The tab layout and identifier conventions follow the retired DITC tool. You enter or CSV-import your accounts and get a plain-language error list, then download a validated v3.0 file. It is tested with 1,000-account returns. A licence is CI$1,500 per FI per reporting year (charged as US$1,800). See pricing.

AEOIkit is independent. The DITC, CIMA and the OECD have not endorsed or approved it.
