A sample CRS XML v3.0 file, and how it validates
Don’t take “v3.0 compliant” on trust, ours or anyone’s. Here is a file AEOIkit produced, and the result of checking it against the OECD schema.
This is a CRS XML Schema v3.0 file produced by AEOIkit 1.5, with fictitious data. Validated against the official OECD CrsXML_v3.0.xsd on 23 October 2026, it gave zero errors and zero warnings. Download it and check it with any XSD validator.
What is in it
- A Cayman reporting FI (Test Fund Ltd, FI000123) sending a new-data message (CRS701) to one receiving jurisdiction.
- 4 account reports: individual and entity account holders, controlling persons, a joint account with its holder count, an equity-interest role, self-certification status and four payment types.
- MessageRefId and DocRefIds generated to the DITC conventions.
- All names, numbers and addresses are fictitious test data; any resemblance to a real FI, company or person is coincidental. The reporting period (2025) and the timestamp (20 July 2026) are fixed in our test fixture; a 2026 return has the same structure.
The validation result
| File | aeoikit-sample-crs-v3.0.xml, 7,541 bytesSHA-256 9bb2e63469abd4c370f80341988cd4db62032005c35cfe42b2325dcec95c4b5eMD5 7eaf53c2b8cbf40132db75953730bae8 |

| Produced by | AEOIkit 1.5’s XML builder (released 11 October 2026), run on 23 October 2026 on our regression-suite fixture. The fixture fixes the file’s timestamp, so the output is byte-identical from version 1.3 to 1.5 |
| Schema | OECD CrsXML_v3.0.xsd with its four imported schema files (oecdcrstypes_v5.0, isocrstypes_v1.1, CommonTypesFatcaCrs_v2.0, FatcaTypes_v1.2) |
| Validator | the .NET XmlSchemaSet validator (XSD 1.0), with all five OECD schema files compiled |
| Result | 0 errors, 0 warnings, checked 23 October 2026. As a control, the same file with one invalid code was rejected |
| Regression suite | 119 of 119 automated checks passed on version 1.5, the same day |
Check it yourself
Download the OECD schema files from the OECD’s Tax Transparency Resource Centre, which the DITC points filers to (DITC Industry Advisory, 17 June 2026). Then run any XSD validator. For example, with xmllint:
xmllint --noout --schema CrsXML_v3.0.xsd aeoikit-sample-crs-v3.0.xml
What a schema check does not prove
The XSD checks structure. It does not check rules that compare fields with each other or with earlier filings, which is why AEOIkit also checks business rules before it builds a file. More on that in validation against CrsXML_v3.0.xsd. Passing the OECD schema is a test we run, not a certification, and AEOIkit is not endorsed by the DITC, CIMA or the OECD.
